District Kasur was formed in 1976 by detaching Kasur and Chunian tehsils from Lahore district. Kasur is situated at a distance of about 55 kilometres towards South of Lahore on the Lahore Ferozepur Road. The district has Indian Territory on the South and East across the river Satluj, Lahore district on the North, Okara district on South-West and Sheikhupur district on North-West. District Kasur is spread over an area of 3,995 square kilometres and is sub divided in the three tehsils of Kasur, Chunian and Pattoki. Apart from tehsil headquarters, other important towns in the district are Mustafabad, Raja Jhang, Kot Radha Kishan, Khudian, Pattoki, Kanganpur, Bhaipheru, etc.

The climate of district Kasur is hot in summer and comparatively cold in winter. May and June are the hottest months, when temperature goes upto 44ºC. Water logging and salinity has effected a large area of the district making the under ground water brackish.
